Why We Started Darcy Digital: Building, Design, and Brilliant People

by Tom Darcy, Founder

Why start Darcy Digital? The world isn't exactly short of web design agencies. Fair question.

For us, it boiled down to a few simple things that just wouldn't leave us alone.

We Genuinely Love Building Stuff

There's a fundamental satisfaction in making things. Taking an idea, a blank screen, lines of code, and turning it into something real, something functional, something useful, that's the core thrill. Whether it's a complex web application or a clean, sharp website, the process of creation is what gets us out of bed. We like solving the puzzles, fitting the pieces together, and seeing something we built actually work for someone.

Good Design Matters. A Lot.

Life's too short for ugly, clunky websites. We believe how something looks and how it feels to use is just as important as the code running underneath. A great website shouldn't just function; it should feel intuitive, look professional, and genuinely reflect the quality of the business it represents. It builds trust. It makes people feel confident. We have a deep appreciation for clean lines, smart layouts, and interfaces that just make sense – and we wanted to build a business that prioritised that craft.

It's More Fun Working With Interesting People

Code and design are great, but they're just tools. The real spark comes from the people we build for. We thrive on collaborating with business owners from all sorts of backgrounds, the local butcher, the tech startup, the established manufacturer, the independent consultant right here in Sussex. Learning about different industries, understanding unique challenges, and helping passionate people bring their vision online is incredibly rewarding. Every project is different because every client is different. Frankly, it stops things from getting boring.

So, Darcy Digital

That's why we're here. Darcy Digital exists at the intersection of those three things: the love of building useful digital tools, a commitment to high-quality, thoughtful design, and a genuine desire to partner with interesting, ambitious people, especially those in our local Sussex community, to help their businesses succeed online.

It's not about churning out sites. It's about building the right things, the right way, with people we enjoy working with. And we plan to keep doing just that.
